Mid to Late 20th Century

The cutoff date of 1990 was put in place to ensure that all photos would be taken on film, and not digital cameras. Digital cameras did not become widely accessible until the 1990s, and while we at GBF use digital cameras, for the purposes of the retrospective we wanted to see the way Georgian Bay looked in more candid and less stylized documentation.  This time period is considered Contemporary History, as in history within living memory that directly affects the current way of life. Many of these images depict a healthier and more stable environmental
